Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 21, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Student Money Mentors LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our website and use Overthink It (the “Service”) at [WEBSITE URL] (the “Website”). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control our use of them.

In some cases, we may use cookies to collect personal information, or information that becomes personal information when combined with other information. Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information more broadly.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit them. They allow the website to recognize your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferences, sign-in state, or how you use the site.

First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by a domain other than the one you are visiting — for example, by a service provider we use for authentication or analytics.

We also use technologies that function like cookies, including local storage (data stored by your browser on your device) and similar mechanisms. For the purposes of this policy, references to “cookies” include these similar technologies unless we state otherwise.

2. Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential — to operate the Service, keep you signed in, maintain your session, and protect against abuse.
  • Functionality — to remember certain preferences and to support features such as third-party sign-in (for example, Google).
  • Analytics — to understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used so we can improve it.
  • We do not use advertising cookies or cookies for cross-site interest-based advertising.

Where applicable, our Service is designed so that most analytics is processed without building a personal profile of you through cookies.

3. How can I control cookies?

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can usually block all cookies, allow only first-party cookies, block third-party cookies, or delete existing cookies.

Blocking or deleting essential cookies may prevent the Service from working — for example, you may not be able to stay signed in or complete sign-in with Google. Disabling analytics cookies does not prevent you from using the Service.

Because the Service does not use advertising cookies or a separate “Cookie Preference Center,” your controls are the standard browser controls described in Section 6, combined with the choices described in our Privacy Policy.

The categories of cookies and similar technologies we use are described below. If you are in a jurisdiction that requires consent for non-essential storage, your continued use of the Service after being informed of these technologies constitutes that consent to the extent permitted by applicable law, except where we rely on strictly necessary storage that does not require consent.

4. Essential website cookies

These are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They allow you to sign in, remain signed in, and use core features. The Service does not work properly without them, and they cannot be disabled in our systems.

5. Performance and functionality cookies

These allow the Service to remember choices and support features such as third-party sign-in. Most are first-party. Some may be set by a third party during a sign-in flow.

6. Analytics and customization cookies

These help us understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used so we can improve features and performance. We do not use them to build a cross-site advertising profile of you.

The underlying platform that hosts the Service (Base44) may also set technical storage necessary to deliver and secure the Service; such storage is governed by its provider’s practices and the essential-category rules above.

7. Advertising cookies

Overthink It does not use advertising cookies or cookies for interest-based, cross-site advertising. We do not place third-party advertising cookies on your device.

8. Unclassified cookies

In some cases, cookies or similar technologies we become aware of may not yet be categorized. Any such items are listed here and under review for classification into one of the above categories. There are currently none known to us that fall outside the categories above.

9. How can I control cookies on my browser?

Browser controls vary. You can usually manage or delete cookies through your browser’s settings. Links to guidance for common browsers are below:

  • Chrome — https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
  • Firefox — https://support.mozilla.org/kb/cookies-information-websites-store

Disabling all cookies may prevent you from signing in or using core features. Disabling third-party sign-in or analytics cookies may affect authentication options but will not block access to the Service itself.

10. What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?

We may use limited tracking technologies such as pixels or tags to help measure whether a message or link was opened or used, or to support analytics. These technologies generally do not store personal information on your device and are used to help us understand aggregate engagement and improve the Service.

We do not use tracking technologies for cross-site interest-based advertising.

11. Do you use Flash cookies or Local Shared Objects?

No. We do not use Flash cookies or Local Shared Objects (LSOs). Flash is a deprecated technology, and we do not employ it.

12. Do you serve targeted advertising?

No. We do not serve or allow third parties to serve interest-based or targeted advertising cookies through the Service. We do not share information with third parties for the purpose of cross-site advertising targeting.

13. How often will you update this Cookie Policy?

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies or similar technologies we use, when our business practices change, or when legal or regulatory requirements change.

The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.

14. Where can I get further information?
